Students enrolled in IGNOU's Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Master of Social Work (MSW) programmes in social work are required to finish the project work (dissertation paper) or field work journal requirements. Both the topics are important to their professional development as social workers to gain their practical experience, develop critical thinking skills and conduct research on essential topics in the field. This blog goes in depth into the significance .... lifeforknowledge@gmail.com

How Social workers help vulnerable adults to stay safe and healthy?

Social workers help vulnerable adults to stay safe and healthy.

They use different ways to help them, such as:

1. The situation must be assessed by the social worker to determine the level of risk to the vulnerable adult. This may involve talking to the adult and other individuals involved, reviewing documentation, and conducting observations.

For example :An elderly person's house may be visited by a social worker to check if they have enough food and money.

2. A care plan will be developed by the social worker based on the assessment, which addresses the specific needs of the vulnerable adult. This may include identifying services and resources that can help the adult, such as home health care or financial assistance.

For example, If there is trouble walking, a social worker may assist in obtaining a wheelchair and a caregiver to assist with daily tasks.

3. Vulnerable adults can be advocated for by social workers by speaking up for their rights and ensuring that they are treated fairly. This may involve advocating for access to services or advocating against abuse and exploitation.

For example, Someone who has experienced domestic violence may be talked to by a social worker to help them feel better.

4. Social workers may offer counselling to vulnerable persons in order to better their mental health and help them deal with emotional pain.

For example, The boss may be spoken to by a social worker to stop the bullying if someone with a mental illness is being bullied at work.

5. Vulnerable adults may be referred by social workers to other professionals or agencies for additional support.

For example: A social worker may referred an elderly person  to a lawyer who can assist them with legal problems related to money.
